Reservations are being accepted by phone at 442-6948, fax at 442-5050, mail or by emailing Mary Ryan at mmryan@berkshireunitedway.com.The Be Berkshire Breakfast will be an opportunity for the Berkshire United Way to continue its transition to a community impact business model. In the past, September marked the campaign kick-off to rally businesses to raise funds through workplace campaigns. The BUW’s expanded mission includes mobilizing resources to address priority community needs. During 2008, the United Way engaged with over 200 individuals to inform them of the new model, which demands accountability for community change, and to get input on the community’s aspiration for Berkshire County.
An update on this process will be included in the breakfast, expanding the program from a discussion about fundraising to a discussion of how the resources can be used to impact and improve community conditions. To highlight the significance of this new strategy and its effect in the quality of life in the Berkshires, Kelly Baity, CEO of the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center, a funding partner of the BUW, will discuss the impact of the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center in the community. In addition, the breakfast will open with a performance of the Youth Alive Senior Steppers and Main Drummer, under the leadership of Shirley Edgerton.
