Legendary singer Linwood Peel performed as lead singer of The Drifters for many years. His group, Linwood Peel’s Tribute to The Drifters performs their Drifters tribute worldwide. Their incredible live show includes all The Drifters great hits, including Under The Boardwalk, On Broadway, Save The Last Dance For Me, Up On The Roof, This Magic Moment, There Goes My Baby and more.

Linwood Peel, from New York City is among many lead singers who have led The Drifters over the past five decades but when it comes to taking the stage, Peel has established himself as the best performer of the group, bringing boundless energy and charisma to his incredible performance. Reunited with this talented group of his former Drifters mates, Peel continues to entertain audiences across the globe.

The Hollies were one of the most popular British bands to hit the U.S. in the 1960’s. The group had many hits throughout the sixties including Bus Stop, Carrie Anne, On A Carousel and Just One Look but it was when Terry Sylvester replaced his good friend Graham Nash in the band that The Hollies achieved their greatest success. With Sylvester singing songs like He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother (a song that featured the services of an unknown piano player named Elton John), Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress, The Air That I Breathe, and Sorry Suzanne The Hollies achieved incredible chart success. He has been awarded five platinum and nine gold records.

Terry Sylvester grew up in Allerton section of Liverpool, England, down the street from his older counterpart Paul McCartney. His first band, The Escorts toured England with The Beatles and performed as opening act at many Beatles shows. He later joined The Swinging Blue Jeans who recorded the hit song Hippy Hippy Shake. In the late sixties, Sylvester’s good friend Graham Nash decided to leave The Hollies. Nash was unhappy that the group had decided to record an album of Bob Dylan songs instead of their own material and was going to join Stephen Stills and David Crosby to form a new group which would later become Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. With Terry Sylvester on board, The Hollies released a string of major hits that solidified the group’s reputation as one of the best bands ever to come out of Great Britain.

Berkshire County musical variety group Phil Grover’s Doo Wah Revue will open the concert. The area favorites will perform their all new Best of The Brits show.

The concert begins at 7:30. Tickets are on sale at The Colonial box office at 111 South Street in Pittsfield, by phone at (413)997-4444 or online at www.thecolonialtheatre.org.

Former Harry's Supermarket Under Construction for Restaurant

By Brittany PolitoiBerkshires Staff

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Construction is underway to transform the former Harry's Supermarket into a restaurant

Late last month, the Conservation Commission greenlit some tree pruning on the property. New windows and a new door can be seen in the front of the building.

"It's a substantial renovation that's currently underway here," Brent White of White Engineering said, speaking on behalf of the applicant and owner, Huajie Zhu.

A fire gutted the longtime Wahconah Street supermarket in 2023, and the following year, Zhu purchased the property for $460,000 two years ago to build a restaurant with hibachi in the existing footprint of the more than 100-year-old building.

White explained that the project has been ongoing for over a year, and the Community Development Board granted the property a waiver to reduce the minimum required number of parking spaces so that additional spaces aren't needed.

He noted that, looking at the site plan, there is very little room to do so. A mirror will be installed near the sharp turn on Bel Air Avenue to alleviate traffic concerns.

Pruning will be done on trees in the southeast corner of the existing paved parking lot, as a number of branches are hanging over. The new owners also intend to patch, sealcoat, and re-stripe the parking lot.

A fire tore through the building less than an hour after the supermarket closed for the day three years ago. An automatic sprinkler system is required for the new use.
