McCann LPN program invites candidates to apply

NORTH ADAMS, Mass - Aspiring nurses are invited to apply for the post-secondary licensed practical nurse (LPN) program offered by McCann Technical School in North Adams. An admission exam will take place November 19 at 5 p.m. at McCann Technical School. Potential candidates must have submitted an application and $25 exam fee to register for the exam.

Final date for registration for the November 19 exam is November 10 at 3:45 p.m. Candidates who have taken the admission exam in the past and did not meet the eligibility requirements are eligible to retake the exam if three months or more have elapsed since the last attempt. The next LPN class starts January 12, 2009 and ends December 2009. The 40-week course meets on the campus of North Adams Regional Hospital and at other clinical sites throughout northern and central Berkshire County on weekdays from 4 to 10 p.m., with some clinical daytime hours in September and October.  Openings are available for the upcoming class; admission is contingent upon meeting academic requirements (high school diploma or GED with grade of C or better in mathematics and English), passing scores on the admission exam, strong references, and a successful interview. SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
