Salvation Army Kicks Off 2008 Kettle Campaign

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Salvation Army launches its 2008 Kettle Campaign today.
Volunteers will be ringing their bells at Wal-Mart, Stop & Shop, Price Chopper and Peebles Department Store through Dec. 24.
The needs in Northern Berkshire County are greater than ever this year, and no contribution is too small, said Salvation Army officials. "When you hear the bell ringing, please respond."
With four locations to be served, more bell ringers are neeed. To volunteer, call 413-663-7987 for information.
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program, providing toys for children up to age 12, is also under way. Stop at the Adams Cooperative Bank on Eagle Street or the corps' headquarters at 393 River St. to select an "angel" with a specific gift idea. The gifts will be distributed along with baskets of food to families who have signed up for the program.
