MCLA Men Fall in Overtime

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Locked after both halves MCLA and Framingham State battled through one overtime with the Rams prevailing with a 90-82 win. All game the teams traded the lead with neither team taking more than a six point lead. MCLA had five players in double figures, but it wouldn't be enough in the end. The Rams' Bill Carey (Abington, MA) scored a game high 29 points to lead the way followed by Chad Dixon's (Brockton, MA) 24 point effort.

In the first half the two teams were tight on the stats page with MCLA taking a slight edge on the boards (28-26) and field goal percentage (67%-58%). In the second half the teams continued to exchange the lead seeing a 68 point lock with just under a minute to play in regulation. The Rams jumped out to a three point lead on a shot by Carey.

MCLA's Mike Perreault (Whitinsville, MA) answered right back with two to bring the deficit to one. Framingham was plagued all night by poor freethrow shooting, but Roderick Jackson (Cambridge, MA) was able to convert one bring the Rams' lead back to two. With 2.3 seconds left, Framingham fouled sending Perreault to the line. He converted both chances locking the game at 72 a piece and sending the teams into overtime.

It seemed as if the Trailblazers just ran out of steam in the overtime. Framingham outscored the Trailblazers by eight in extra time to earn their tenth (10-8) in of the season and second (2-3) in the MASCAC. MCLA falls to 1-15 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

New North Adams Restaurant Approved for Liquor License

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A new restaurant on Main Street, a provisions shop and a convenience store all got the nod from the License Commission on Tuesday.
 
Siblings Colleen and Sean Taylor are expanding their cuisine empire yet again with the establishment of Main & Mill in the old TD Bank. They were before the commission to apply for an all-alcohol license. 
 
The building is owned by Ginko on Main Street LLC, which has granted 20 years exclusive possession of the property to Latent Builds as the developer. Jack and Suzy Wadsworth, behind Ginko, are development partners with Salvatore Perry and Karla Rothstein of Latent.
 
The bank closed in early 2021 and purchased by Ginko late that year. Plans for the property unveiled three years ago envisioned a restaurant, retail, a park and rooftop bar. 
 
The building's hosted some pop-up eateries and is currently under construction for the new restaurant. 
 
Colleen Taylor said the restaurant will be open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, and be open early for coffee. 
 
"It's not going to be a very big restaurant. It's about the same size as Trail House, except for Trail House has a bigger patio, so about the same seating," she said.
