BCC/Absolutely Experiential, Inc. to Offer Challenge Course Training
Berkshire Community College, in collaboration with Absolutely Experiential, Inc., will offer the following challenge training courses this spring. All classes will be held at Eastover Resort in Lenox, Mass. Absolutely Experiential, Inc. is an ACCT Level III Professional Vendor Member offering training for challenge course practitioners of all levels.“Challenge Course Facilitator Training” (WKS 6084), a 40 hour training course, is delivered over four days and designed around the Association for Challenge Course Technology standards. It covers all the core skills facilitators need to run games, initiatives, Low Ropes, and High Ropes, with an emphasis on understanding the group process and the importance of debriefing. At the end of the training, participants are qualified to run low and high challenge course programming under supervision of a more experience practitioner. Completion of this training meets the prerequisites to apply for Absolutely Experiential Full Level 1 Challenge Course Practitioner Certification. Classes meet Monday through Thursday, March 16 through March 19, or April 20 through April 23, from 8 to 5:30. Cost is $600.
“Challenge Course Practitioner Certification” (WKS 6085), a one-day certification course, allows students to test for any of the three levels of certification. Completion of the Challenge Course Facilitator program meets the eligibility requirements to take the Level 1 Certification test. Class meets Friday, March 20 or April 24, from 9 to 5. Cost is $175.
“Challenge Course Technical Skills” (WKS 6086), a one-day workshop, is designed for Challenge Course practitioners who have had past training and experience, but could use a day on the ropes course to either beef up existing skills, re-introduce skills not used in awhile, or update practitioners in current standards within the field. Candidates receive a certificate of completion stating that they have received eight hours of training from an ACCT approved certified vendor. Class meets Sunday, May 10, from 8 to 4. Cost is $175.
