Chris Botti will appear at The Mahaiwe
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. - Trumpeter extraordinaire Chris Botti will appear at The Mahaiwe Performing Arts
Center on Friday, May 8. One of the best-selling instrumentalists of our time – nearly 3 million albums worldwide – Chris Botti is a charismatic performer who blends the sounds of pop, jazz, and classical music to create a repertoire of groundbreaking appeal. He has traced an arc of success across these musical genres, collaborating with such notables as Yo Yo Ma, Steven Tyler, Josh Groban, John Mayer, Katharine McPhee, and Lucia Micarelli, forging an expansive style that rings with warmth and soul.
Perhaps his greatest work has been with the legendary Sting, since 1999 producing such hits as “When I Fall in Love” and “To Love Again” (both #1 Top Jazz Albums), as well as the Brand New Day tour, where Botti was the featured soloist for two years. Chris also won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocals in 2005, with vocals by Sting, who lauds Botti’s “refined pop sensibility.”
Chris Botti’s incredible musical career, also including stints with pop icons Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell, has earned him two Gold Record awards. His 2007 studio release, “Italia,” a suite of songs and music inspired by the romance of Italy, features duets with Andrea Bocelli, Paula Cole, and Dean Martin. A perennial concert attraction, Botti produces more than 250 stellar performances each year. “Chris Botti in Boston,” premiered on PBS’s March Pledge Drive, has just been released in CD, DVD, and Blue Ray formats by Columbia Records.
Chris Botti will grace The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center stage with his singular sound on Friday, May 8th at 8 pm. This is a celebration of great music not to be missed!
