State Assistance Announced For Streetlight Project At Great Barrington’s Flagrock Village
Great Barrington, Mass. – State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D – Pittsfield) and State Representative William Smitty Pignatelli (D – Lenox) announce technical assistance and capital improvement bond funding awarded by the state Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to the Great Barrington Housing Authority (GBHA).The $2,500 award will go toward reinstalling streetlights at the Authority’s Flagrock Village development, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors. Flagrock Village, a community designed by the GBHA and Dietz & Company Associates, offers a number of affordable units for seniors, as well as duplex-style family homes.
“Investment in our public housing goes a long way toward building up our stock of comfortable, safe communities in the Berkshires,” said Downing. “I appreciate DHCD’s continuous support of the great work the Great Barrington Housing Authority is doing.”
The award will fund a very worthwhile project according to Barbara Heaphy, Executive Director of the GBHA. “I’m very glad we got this funding for the much-needed streetlight replacement project in Flagrock Village,” said Heaphy.
“I welcome this great news for the Great Barrington Housing Authority and I am pleased that this grant will go to such a worthy project,” lauded Pignatelli.
