PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Mayor James M. This public meeting will be held in City Council Chambers at City Hall.In November 2008, Pittsfield was one of eighteen communities in the Commonwealth to receive a $75,000 grant from the Commonwealth under their Gateway Plus Action Grant Program. The program’s intent is to assist recipient cities identify their specific housing or mixed-use development needs to enhance their economic vitality and the quality of life for all residents.
The City of Pittsfield engaged a consultant, GLC Development Resources Inc., to prepare a Housing Needs Analysis and development recommendations for the Westside, Morningside, and Downtown neighborhoods. Input was also sought from several local lenders.
Mayor Ruberto said, “With all the accomplishments we have had over the past five years in housing, combining an enhanced code enforcement program and the City’s housing rehabilitation program, this study gives points us in the direction of the future housing needs for the City’s most critical neighborhoods.” GLC Development has recently completed this housing study and will be sharing their findings with the community at the public meeting September 9.
