N. Berkshire Mineral Club Hosts Annual Show
POWNAL, Vt. — The Northern Berkshire Mineral Club is hosting its annual gem and mineral show at American Legion Post 90 on Route 7.The show will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 to 6, and Sunday, Sept. 13, from 10 to 5; the Legion is just north of the old Green Mountain Race Track and Route 346. Hourly door prizes will be drawn with a grand prize to be awarded each day.
The show will include gems and minerals, fossils and gift items, carvings, jewel boxes and more. Dealers from New England and other areas of the East Coast will offer a wide selection of jewelry, including turquoise and other gemstone items, as well as prize mineral specimens, onyx carvings, sterling silver and gold jewelry, a variety of fossils and other gift items.
Children and beginner collectors will be able to find reasonably priced items and grab bags. For the benefit of children, there will be a fish pond at which youngsters may "fish" for a bag of mineral specimens.
Lunch will be available.
The show is open to the general public. Admission is $2, children under 12 free when accompanied by an adult. School groups or other large groups may apply for a special rate.
The club meets the third Sunday of the month, October through May, at 2 p.m. in the community room at the Spring Park Apartments, 45 Spring St., North Adams. Membership is open to persons of all ages interested in minerals, gems, fossils and related hobbies.
