Friday night, the Berkshire Bateria presents Bossa Triba, authentic Brazilian music at Jae’s Spice. Come and enjoy a great night of dancing to live samba! Also on Friday at Rebel Sound Records, regional favorites Dead Aces make the trek over from Troy along with friends S.M.U.T (NYC) and Stressbomb (CT) both making their Berkshire County debut! Locals Dead Radio Rebels have been added to this show and The Poncherellos have taken their vitamins and are also playing! Also head to Mission Bar & Tapas for Michelle Lewis’ new CD release party! Michelle will be performing songs from her new album “Broken”. Local favorite Lauren Mele will be opening for Michelle. Lauren blew away the crowd during Word X Word so if you didn’t catch her then don’t miss her this time! Saturday, don't miss the US debut of Rosedale from Toronto, Canada at Rebel Sound Records! Also on the bill are Red Invasion from Boston, whose new album will be out soon on Rebel Sound Records. Joining in the fun are local favorites Between Now & Forever, Sadplant from Connecticut and some ska fun courtesy of Smittix!

Sat-Mon: Blanket/Scarf Making Workshop with Crispina
Learn to make blankets and scarves from 100% recycled wool sweaters. Make a scarf, baby blanket, or throw. A love of hand work and some experience in that department is helpful but not necessary. Simple hand sewing techniques taught - attend one, two or all three days. The longer you stay, the bigger the project you will have time to complete. Single day students can expect to finish a scarf.

Saturday: Youth Block Party at Morningside
The Pittsfield Youth Commission is holding a 70's themed block party on Saturday. Everyone is encouraged to dress up for the theme! Show off your competitive skills at the skateboard competition, basketball competition, and Oreo eating contest and strut your stuff in the fashion show. Also, look out for the Crayola Bouncy House! Enjoy food from Fat Chickens Barbecue, Liberty Pizza, V's Ice Cream truck and more. There will also be tie-dye shirts on sale to raise money for the Taconic High School yearbook.

Saturday: 2nd Annual Berktoberfest
Saturday, support breweries of Massachusetts, local restaurants, and a great cause! Berktoberfest is back, with music, games and more! Pre-purchased tickets include ten 4oz beer tokens and a souvenir Berktoberfest cup. Purchased at the event, tickets include 5 beer tokens and a souvenir cup. Proceeds go to Downtown Inc and the Elizabeth Freeman Center.

Saturday: Opening Reception @ Storefront Artist Project
Saturday, come to the opening reception for Two Views, an exhibition of paintings by Susan Hartung and Julie Love Edmonds. Susan and Julie, veteran painters and long time friends, bring their work to the Storefront Artist Project for a month long exhibition in October. Both artists work from observation and/or photographs but the results, for Susan, leans towards abstract and minimalist forms; while in Julie's case the paintings remain representational.

Sunday: South Mountain Concert Series
South Mountain Concerts is a presenter of chamber music concerts each year during early fall. Founded in 1918 through the vision and generosity of the American patroness of music, Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge, South Mountain has presented over the years some of the world’s leading chamber music ensembles and soloists. Sunday, the Emerson String Quartet performs with Paul Neubauer on viola.

Tuesdays: Art Speak 101 @ Berkshire Museum
On Tuesdays, starting this week, learn the basics of, and how to speak about art. Join public programs coordinator, Craig Langlois and executive director, Stuart A. Chase for an informal discussion about art terms and a primer on speaking about art. This is event is open to members only, and pre-registration is required.

Wed-Sun: Barrington Stage Company: The Fantasticks
Fall in love with the world's longest-running musical, The Fantasticks, on the Mainstage. The Fantasticks is a captivating romantic comedy about a boy, a girl, two fathers, and a wall. The Fantasticks will be directed by Andrew Volkoff (BSC’s Underneath the Lintel, I Am My Own Wife, Fully Committed) and choreographed by Janet Watson (choreographer of current NY production). Come to the preview nights on Wednesday and Thursday, and attend opening night on Saturday!

Wednesday: Pittsfield CityJazz Festival Kickoff
The annual Pittsfield CityJazz Festival gets under way on Wednesday, with a free concert by the Royal Hartigan group at the Berkshire Athenaeum. A jazz percussionist and pianist of international renown, Hartigan is a one-time tap dancer who has studied and performed the musics of Asia, Africa, Europe, West Asia, and the Americas. A former Pittsfield resident, his local appearances are always popular. Don’t miss the incredible two weeks of jazz in downtown Pittsfield!
