NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rita Longworth, a registered dietitian, has joined the nutrition services department at North Adams Regional Hospital and is seeing outpatients.

Longworth, a native of Northfield, Vt., holds a bachelor's degree in dietetics from the University of Vermont. She completed her dietetic internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut, graduating from that program in August 2009. She most recently worked for Sodexo at the University of Vermont.

"I'm looking forward to meeting with patients and helping them reach their goals, whether they want to improve their eating habits, lose weight, or manage diabetes or high cholesterol," said Longworth. "The important thing is to create an environment where my clients feel free to discuss their eating habits openly and honestly. Food can be a sensitive subject; my goal is to help people succeed and feel good about their choices."

Longworth is an outdoors enthusiast and enjoys running, skiing and mountain biking, and plans to run in the Boston Marathon in April. She can be reached at 413-664-5263.
