SVMC Nurse Named as a Vermont Business Magazine Rising Star
BENNINGTON, Vt. — Kristi Cross, community health team leader for the Vermont Blueprint for Health and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care, was named a Vermont Rising Star on Thursday, Nov. 8, at an awards ceremony in South Burlington.
"This is an amazing honor," Cross said "To be recognized for doing work that I love and to be included among the other truly incredible honorees from Bennington and around the state is deeply humbling."
Cross has worked as the SVMC/Vermont Blueprint for Health Community Team Leader since February, where she is responsible for patient-centered medical homes, the women's health initiative, medication-assisted treatment programs, care coordination, and various population-health initiatives. She also teaches part time in Southern Vermont College's nursing program. In addition, starting Jan. 1, 2019, she has been appointed director of Bennington Blueprint.
Cross was the director of Bayada Home Healthcare for four years. She received her associates in nursing from Southern Vermont College in Bennington and her bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Chamberlain University in Illinois. She is a member of the Bennington Rotary Club.
The 2018 class of Rising Stars includes 40 professionals under the age of 40. Each member was selected by a panel of judges for "their commitment to business growth, professional excellence and their communities." Cross is one of seven professionals chosen from Bennington County. The award was started by Vermont Business Magazine eight years ago to highlight exceptional young professionals working in the state’s nonprofits and businesses.
