Orthopedic Surgeon Joins SVMC

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michaela M. Schneiderbauer has joined SVMC Orthopedics and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, a part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care.

"Dr. Schneiderbauer brings a wealth of academic and clinical experience to our already highly regarded team of surgeons and sports medicine specialists," said Trey Dobson, chief medical officer for SVMC and medical director for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians. "Michaela is a talented orthopedic surgeon, specializing in joint replacements, that could be practicing in any market worldwide. We are excited that she will be joining our SVMC team to provide care for this region."

Schneiderbauer earned her medical degree at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany, and the Harvard Medical School Program for Medical Education in Massachusetts. She completed residency training at Basel University Hospital in Switzerland. In addition, she completed fellowships in joint replacement surgery and training in orthopedic oncology with the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida.

In addition to her medical education and training, Schneiderbauer is a certified professional coach with International Coach Federation-accredited University of Miami Certified Professional Coach Program. She was the valedictorian of the University of Miami’s MBA in Health Sector Management and Policy in 2014. She is board certified by American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Since 2016, Schneiderbauer has worked as an associate professor of Clinical Orthopaedics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida. She was an assistant professor at the same institution since 2011.


     
"This corner of Vermont is similar to my home in Germany," said Dr. Schneiderbauer. "I look forward to joining the exceptional team at SVMC Orthopedics and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians, getting to know my patients, and skiing the Green Mountains."

Schneiderbauer practices in Bennington and at SVMC Northshire Campus in Manchester Center and is accepting new patients. She joins board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeons doctors Suk Namkoong, Matthew Nofziger and James Whittum, and sports medicine physicians Paul Donovan and Ivette Guttman, along with several associate providers.

SVMC Orthopedics offers preventive and non-surgical treatments, minimally invasive surgery, and surgery for sports injuries, painful joints, and complicated fractures. They execute complete joint replacements, rotator cuff repair, and surgeries on hands, knees, wrists, feet, elbows and ankles.
