Adams Nomination Papers Available

ADAMS, Mass. — Nomination papers are available beginning Monday for the May town election.
 
Two three-year selectmen seats will be on the ballot that are currently held by Richard Blanchard and Joseph Nowak.
 
There will also be two three-year seats up for election on the Adams-Cheshire Regional School Committee. Adams representatives Paul Butler and Jennifer Gageant will have to run again to hold their positions.
 
The Planning Board will have one five-year seat on the ballot currently held by Barbara Ziemba.
 
There will also be a three-year seat on the Northern Berkshire Regional Vocational School Committee (McCann Technical) seat for an Adams representative that is currently held by Joseph Allard
 
Treasurer/Collector Kelly Rice and Assessor Lorraine Kalisz' three-year posts will also be up for re-election, as will the one-year term of Moderator Myra Wilk and a three-year Cemetery Commission term held currently by James Taylor. 
 
Also on the ballot will be a three-year Board of Health seat currently held by Peter Hoyt; two three-year terms on the Board of Library Trustees currently held by Virginia Duval and Karen Kettles; two Housing Authority seats, a vacant one-year term and a five-year term held by Erica Girgenti; and two seats on the Redevelopment Authority, a vacant one-year term and a five-year seat currently held by Jacob Levesque.
 
As for town meeting members, Precincts 1 and 5 both have 10 seats up for election; Precincts 2 and 3 both have 12 seats, and Precinct 4 has 11. The terms range from one to three years.
 
Incumbents have until March 11 to notify the clerk if they are running for re-election; the deadline for all candidates to submit nomination papers is 5 p.m. on Monday, March 18 (except for town meeting members). Deadline to withdraw or object to nomination papers is April 3.
 
The voter registration deadline is April 16.

CHP Adds Nurse Practitioner, Social Worker at Northern Berkshire Medical Practices

ADAMS, Mass. — Community Health Programs has expanded its Northern Berkshires practices with two new health care providers: a social worker and nurse practitioner.
 


Plunkett

Thomas R. Plunkett, LICSW, is now seeing patients at CHP Adams Internists and CHP North Adams Family Medical and Dental. His position is part of CHP's expansion this year into behavioral health care.

Most recently a private practitioner in Williamstown, Plunkett provides psychotherapy for adults, children, couples and groups, as well as diagnostic evaluation. He has previously practiced in Pittsfield, with a focus on addiction counseling. He was also co-founder of a residential addiction treatment center in Connecticut and previously served as a behavioral health specialist at Canyon Ranch in Lenox and Pittsfield Futures, a drop-out prevention program.

Plunkett earned his B.A. at Hampshire College and his MSW from Simmons College in Boston.  

Adult nurse practitioner Jeffrey Bialobok has joined the CHP Adams Internist practice, where he is now accepting adult patients.
