This year's parade theme is The Berkshires: Past, Present, and Future! The parade begins at 10 a.m. on July 4 and follows its traditional route, beginning on South Street at the Housatonic Street intersection, proceeding up North Street and ending at Wahconah Park. Our parade is consistently one of the single most highly attended, participatory and entertaining events in the region and was listed by USA Today as one of the top ten 4th of July events in the country! In keeping with the Whitney Center for the Arts' tradition of presenting fine opera, the season opens with mezzo-soprano Julie Rumbold inThe Human Voiceor La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc, a sensuous and devastating one-woman opera sung in English, with Nathaniel Baker on piano.
Stardust Cafe is a weekly teen art group inspired by the music of David Bowie. The group will meet at 2 p.m. in the auditorium on Mondays from July 1 - August 12.

Barrington Stage Company presents Stephen Sondheim's musical Into the Woods.A childless baker and his wife endeavor to lift their family curse by journeying into the woods where they encounter Rapunzel, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and other fairytale characters. Their stories become entangled in unexpected ways, revealing what happens after "happily ever after." At the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage through July 13.
Experience a magical summer light show and help track firefly numbers and diversity through the Firefly Watch program. Learn about fireflies and how best to view or gently catch and release them. OLLI's Distinguished Speaker Series presents Jeremy Yudkin, Professor of Music and Co-director of the Center for Beethoven Research at Boston University. Yudkin has written eight books: on medieval music and manuscripts, 16th-century music, jazz and more. Helping all people understand music is one of his greatest passions. Berkshire Museum, 3 p.m.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) announced that three of its primary care provider clinics have received awards from Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) for being among the top practices in Massachusetts for patient experience in primary care.
The "MHQP Patient Experience Awards" is an annual awards program introduced in 2018 by MHQP, a non-profit measurement and reporting organization that works to improve the quality of patient care experiences in Massachusetts. MHQP conducts the only statewide survey of patient experience in primary care in Massachusetts.
"The teams at Adams Internists, Berkshire Internists and Lenox Family Health have worked extremely hard to provide their patients with the highest standard of compassionate, patient-centered care," said James Lederer, MD, BHS Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer. "Berkshire Health Systems is pleased by this recognition, which validates that our patients are receiving the quality communication, care, and support that they deserve, which is our highest priority."
Awards were given to top overall performers in adult primary care and pediatrics in each of nine performance categories. Adams Internists of BMC, Berkshire Internists of BMC and Lenox Family Health Center of BMC received recognition for the following awards for adult care:

A parking study of North Street will be presented at Tuesday's City Council meeting. The design maintains parallel parking while expanding pedestrian zones and adding protected bike lanes. click for more
