EASTHAMPTON, Mass. -- The Greylock Thunder under-18 travel softball team dominated each of its last past weekend, winning by scores of 20-3 and 20-2 against Jaxx and Batter's Box Renegades.
In Game 1, Amanda Novak and Kiki Carrigan shared duties in the pitching circle, racking up three strikeouts each.
All nine Thunder players had at least one hit, with Emma Newberry and Brodi Rosier connecting with the ball four times each. Aggressive base running and lots of stolen bases helped run up the score, with 11 of the runs coming in the fifth inning.
In Game 2, Novak pitched the first two innings with five strikeouts, Rylynn Witek came in for one decisive inning where she struck out the first three batters she faced, and Kiki wrapped up the game, pitching only two balls outside the strike zone to the four batters she faced.
As in the first game, each player had at least one hit, and this time Witek, Rylie Bishop, Newberry, and Carriban each had three hits. Ten of the Thunder's runs came in the first inning, and the final nine came in the fourth.
Next week brings this team one step closer to the season's end as the Thunder plays a weekend tournament in Glens Falls, N.Y.
