MassDOT Advisory: Montgomery, Blandford, Russell, Otis, Becket and Lee

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced that crews will be conducting construction and maintenance operations at specific locations on Interstate 90 eastbound and westbound in Montgomery, Blandford, Russell, Otis, Becket and Lee.

The work is scheduled to begin in some locations at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, and will continue at different locations and time frames through to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.  

At all times, travel will be maintained on I-90 through the work zones. The locations and schedules for lane closures for the work are as follows:

 

Montgomery

  • Bridge repair operations will take place on I-90 eastbound and westbound at Mile Marker 36 from Monday, Sept. 28, through Thursday, Oct. 1, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning. The work will require intermittent lane closures.

 

Blandford and Russell

  • Milling and paving operations will be conducted on I-90 westbound from Mile Marker 32 to Mile Marker 29 from Monday, Sept. 28, through Thursday, Oct. 1, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.  The work will require intermittent lane closures throughout the night.

 

Blandford

  • Drainage repair operations will take place on I-90 westbound at Mile Marker 29.7 from Monday, September 28, through Thursday, October 1, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This work will require lane closures.

 

Russell

  • Drainage repair operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound at mile marker 34.5 from Monday, Sept. 28, through Friday, Oct. 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work will require shoulder closures.

 

Otis

  • Bridge repair operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound at Mile Marker 23 from Monday, September 28, through Wednesday, September 30, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The work will require intermittent lane closures.

 

Becket

  • Bridge repair operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound at Mile Marker 15.9 from Monday, Sept. 28, through Friday, Oct. 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work will require intermittent lane shifts.

 

Lee

  • Bridge repair operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound and westbound at Mile Marker 12.2 from Monday, Sept. 28, through Friday, Oct. 2, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.

Community Hero of the Month: Officer Joshua Tracy

LEE, Mass.—Lee Police Department patrolman Joshua Tracy has been selected for the February Community Hero of the Month. 
 
The Community Hero of the Month series runs for the next 9 months in partnership with Haddad Auto. Nominated community members and organizations have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact on their community. 
 
Tracy has been an officer in the Berkshires for seven years, working for multiple departments including North Adams, Pittsfield, and as of approximately 5 months ago, Lee. 
 
Prior to being an officer, Tracy served 12 years in the Army National Guard. He became an officer when he left the service because it not only allowed him to help others, which he knew he enjoyed, but allowed him to utilize his military training. 
 
When on a call, Tracy knows he is likely walking into someone's worst day, which is why he strives to be a dependable person for the people out in the community, he said. 
 
"I think the thing that I think about the most of making an impact is showing up on these calls that we go on and de-escalating and calming the situation down," Tracy said. 
 
"You know, most of the time when we show up, it's because someone's having one of their worst days or just a really bad day."
