NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The North Adams Police Department is investigating the report of suspicious actions by a group of men who approached a group of MCLA students.

The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' Campus Police Department released a safety alert on its Facebook on Tuesday, Oct. 13, stating that they are assisting local police with an investigation specific to a suspicious vehicle and its occupants.

According to the statement, on Monday, Oct. 12, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the four women were approached by three men in a black four-door sedan in the area of Eagle and Center streets.

According to the statement, the driver asked the students if they were drunk and if any of them wanted to give out their Snapchat names.

The four students replied no and walked away as the occupants of the vehicle continued to stare at them for a few minutes, read the statement.

The students felt unsafe and hid in some bushes as the vehicle reportedly circled the block and the students thought the men were looking for them.

The students reported the incident to the North Adams Police, which then called the MCLA Campus Police. Campus Police escorted the students back to their dorms.

Police have asked residents to be on the lookout for a black four-door sedan with a loud exhaust. The three occupants were described as white men with short hair. One was reported to have red-colored hair.

Police urged that anyone with more information call the North Adams Police at 413-664-4945 or the Campus Police by dialing Ext. 5100 from any campus phone or 413-662-5100 from a cell phone or campus phone

The statement concluded:

"The incident serves as a reminder to practice safe behaviors such as being alert, staying in groups, and contacting the MCLA Campus Police to accompany you if you are feeling unsafe or dialing 911 if you feel like you are in an emergency situation."
