Berkshire Money Management opens Great Barrington office

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Money Management announced that they have opened an office in Great Barrington.

Now in our 20th year as a wealth management firm, Berkshire Money Management (BMM) have opened an office at the corner of Castle and Main Street right in the downtown.

"BMM has clients all over the country. Since the advent of the telephone, there's been no reason a financial advisor couldn't provide real-time service to a client residing anywhere from Tyringham to Timbuktu," said BMM founder and CEO, Allen Harris. "However, people often like to start their relationships in person. More and more people from South County have been braving the scenic 30-minute drive to our headquarters in Dalton. And they are still welcome to. But I wanted to do something for our current and future South County clients, so I built them something more convenient. This branch office is a ‘thank you' to them, and a convenience for new clients who prefer an advisor in their backyard."

In addition to having offices in South County, BMM has already begun expanding our community engagement efforts in Great Barrington and the surrounding towns as a lead sponsor for Berkshire Busk this past summer, as well as sponsoring the work of Construct, Inc., distributing back packs filled with school supplies to Southern Berkshire children, and other initiatives.

The office will have a soft opening on Dec. 11 during the Great Barrington Holiday stroll. The offices will be open and there will be treats and hot chocolate for visitors to enjoy. An official ribbon cutting will be announced early in 2022.

It will be a shorter trip for Berkshire County basketball fans who want to see former Monument Mountain basketball star Dion Brown play home games next winter.

On Wednesday afternoon, Brown announced via the social media platform “X” that he is transferring to Boston College.

“I am proud to announce my decision to further my academic and athletic career at Boston College,” Brown tweeted. “I am hopeful for the future! Go Eagles.”

In 2023-24, Brown, then a sophomore at Boston College, was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Division I All-District Second team.

Brown was a first-team all-America East performer for the Retrievers last winter, breaking the school’s sophomore record for points with 607. He was third in the America East with 19 points per game and sixth in rebounding with 7.8 rebounds per game for UMBC, which went 11-21, losing to UMass-Lowell in the first round of the conference tournament.

B.C. went 20-16 last winter, falling to the University of Virginia in the quarter-finals of the ACC tournament and advancing to the first round of the National Invitational Tournament.
