BCC to Hold Virtual Open House

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) will hold a virtual open house on Saturday, March 5, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by an optional financial aid session at 11:30 am.  
 
Participants will: 
  • Learn how to apply, register and choose classes 
  • Find out why BCC is the most affordable college option in the area 
  • Hear from faculty and staff about BCC's quality programs and the wide variety of student support services 
  • Learn how BCC classes transfer to hundreds of schools or prepare students for an immediate career 
All participants will receive a free gift card to local lunch spots, a discount at the BCC Bookstore, and a chance to win BCC swag. To register, visit www.berkshirecc.edu/openhouse
 
Attendees of the financial aid session will learn the basics of how to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. In addition, participants can speak with an academic advisor about the Spring 2022 course schedule.

Sign up for a 30-minute virtual info session with an admissions counselor, who will provide the tools necessary to apply, register and start on the path to future success. The next sessions will be offered Wednesday, March 2 at 4 pm and Thursday, March 17 at 12 pm.

Local Runners Compete at Boston Marathon

BOSTON, Mass. -- Laura Stephen of Great Barrington finished 26th in the women's 60-64 age group at Monday's Boston Marathon, the top Berkshire County finisher in their division at the 128th running of the event.
 
Stephen crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 42 minutes, 52 seconds, 12,633rd in the overall field of more than 30,000 runners who made the trek from Hopkinton to Copley Square in Boston.
 
More than a dozen Berkshire County residents are listed among the finishers on the Boston Athletic Association website.
 
The fastest of that group was Dalton's Alex White, who finished in 2:38:34 to place 358th overall and 291st among men aged 18 to 39.
 
The race was won by Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia in 2:06.17. Kenya's Hellen Obiri was the fastest woman in the field, hitting the tape in 2:22:37.
