Adams Officials Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Mama's Place

ADAMS, Mass. — The town officials hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week for Mama's Place.

While the 85 Commercial St. restaurant has been open since October, Selectmen Vice Chair Christine Hoyt said it was still worth celebrating. She explained the board could not do a ribbon-cutting at the time because of COVID-19.

Annmarie Belmonte, the owner of Mama's Place, has previously operated several restaurants in Adams, including Izzy's Pizza in the same building. She said community support has continued to be strong in the months since opening.

"There were a lot of people that actually called just to say, 'Welcome back,'" she said. "So I think community support, when it comes to someone recognizing my name and knowing that I have been here before.

So far, according to Belmonte, the most popular menu items have been the imposter burger and the chicken cheesesteak. She explained that, often, she is inspired by food from other restaurants when adding items to her menu while trying to put her own spin on it.

"I'm one to go somewhere, try something and if I like it, I take it apart," she said.

Belmonte said she wants to see every new business in Adams succeed. Belmonte recently helped Miss Adams Diner, another recently-opened restaurant, with its opening day.

"My personal belief is that every business in town should work together," she said. "I think we should all coexist for the greater good to bring more business into the town."
