McCann Tech Rolls over Hoosac Valley

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Nora Kondel went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs Thursday to lead the McCann Tech softball team to a 14-3 win over Hoosac Valley.
 
The Hornets grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the second and took an 11-1 lead with a seven-run fifth inning.
 
Kondel hit a three-run triple in that rally, which started with a leadoff single by Paige Rochelo. Aidan Champney also doubled in a run during the rally.
 
Miranda Ranzoni went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to key a 13-hit attack for the Hornets, who also took advantage of six Hoosac Valley errors.
 
McCann Tech played flawless defense behind Alexis Lemanski, who earned the win in the circle with five strikeouts and five walks while allowing five hits.
 
Gracelyn Wright allowed just five earned runs in a complete-game effort in the circle for the Hurricanes.
 
Hoosac Valley’s offense got a pair of doubles from Genevieve Lagess and a triple from Wright.
 
Hoosac Valley finishes the regular season with a record of 11-6.
 
The Hurricanes and Hornets (10-4) wait to hear who they will face in the quarter-finals of next week’s Western Mass tournament.
