Codey Pitches Another Gem on Road for Pittsfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Jason Codey scattered seven hits and allowed one earned run in a complete-game effort Friday as the Pittsfield baseball team beat Pope Francis, 5-2.
 
Ben Jacob went 2-for-4 with a double, and Morrie Fried doubled in an eight-hit attack for Pittsfield.
 
The Generals broke open a tie game with three runs in the top of the seventh inning, when Bridle drove in Jake Duquette to give PHS a 3-2 lead.
 
Brindle then stole second and scored on Fried’s double. Fried scored the game’s final run when he came home from second on a ground ball from Jackson Almeida.
 
Pittsfield (13-5) learns Saturday who it will face in the quarter-finals of next week’s Western Massachusetts Class B Tournament.
