ADAMS, Mass. -- Reece Racette hit a two-run triple in a three-run eighth inning Wednesday as the Drury baseball team came from behind to earn an 8-5 win over Hoosac Valley at Renfrew Park.
The Blue Devils (7-10) kept their playoff hopes alive by scoring a run in the top of the seventh to tie it and rallying for their first win in five games in extra innings.
In the seventh, Conor Clark singled with one out and then stole second. Jacob Brayman doubled to center field to drive him home, making it 5-5.
Reliever Clark then pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh with some help from his defense. A one-out double was erased when right-fielder Payton Barnes gunned the batter down trying to stretch it into a triple.
In the top of the eighth, Connor Kelly got the winning rally started with a one-out single up the middle.
Barnes’ infield single put runners at first and second for Ryan Dubie. Dubie reached on a two-base error that allowed Kelly to score and Barnes to get to third.
Racette then tripled to center field to score Barnes and Dubie, making it 8-5.
Clark wrapped two ground balls to third baseman Corbin Rumbolt around a strikeout in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win.
Racette went 2-for-4 at the plate, and Brayman and Dylan Toomey each drove in a pair of runs.
Brayman went five innings on the mound as a starter, striking out five. Clark pitched three-innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.
Sam Larabee went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBIs, and Cole Desroches went 2-for-4 for Hoosac Valley (3-15), which faces Monson in the first game of the Wahconah tournament on June 2.
Drury goes to Ware on Thursday.
