CHESHIRE, Mass. — The Hoosac Valley baseball team had no problem scoring runs on Thursday, pounding out 14 hits on its way to beating Taconic 11-2.

The  Hurricanes now move to 2-1 on the season, with Mike Koperniak picking up his second win after pitching six innings, giving up two runs on six hits.

"Mike Koperniak pitched an outstanding game for us today," Hoosac head coach Bob Rivard said. "He was ahead of most of their hitters and was able to keep them off balance with an excellent change up. We were much more productive with our bats, especially with two outs in the inning. Overall, we played much better than our game against Wahconah.

Nick Bourdon had three hits on the day, including two doubles and three RBI, while Slayter Aubin also knocked in three runs on two hits. Nate Alibozek also had a good day at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a double and a RBI. Colin Kline and Zach Larabee both had two hits a piece in the game.

Hoosac Valley next hosts Mount Greylock  at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
