2018 - 2019
North Adams
Head Coach
Year: 7th

The departure of longtime coach George Canales has left the McCann Tech baseball team in the capable hands of first-year skipper Pat Ryan.

The former Hornet takes over his alma mater after previously serving four years as an assistant under Hoosac Valley head coach Bob Rivard. In previous years, Ryan has also spent time coaching in the Adams Babe Ruth League and at the Westfield State College Baseball Camp.

A 1995 graduate of McCann, Ryan won the Unsung Hero award during his three years playing for the Hornets' varsity squad. He also spent two seasons as a member of the North Adams American Legion Post 125 team, where he earned Team MVP honors.

After high school, Ryan was a member of both the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Westfield State College baseball teams. He spent two seasons playing for the Trailblazers, where he finished third all-time in stolen bases. Ryan really shined with the Owls, however, winning MASCAC Player of the Year in 2004 and being named to the All-New England First Team in both '04 and '05. He left Westfield with a .428 career batting average and as the school's all-time leader in triples with 16.

Ryan is currently employed at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School in Northampton, Mass., where he serves as a Carpenter Instructor.
