DALTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Sarah Stripp and senior Sam MacWhinnie of the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team reached career milestones Friday afternoon in their 13-7 victory over Wahconah at Wahconah High School.

Stripp reached her 200th career point on and MacWhinnie reached her 200th career save.

Stripp's came in the second half with 15 minutes, 29 seconds remaining; senior Lucy Barrett fed her the ball just outside the fan, Stripp then carried it in and let one go, tallying her third of the game and 200th career point; putting the Mounties ahead 10-5.

"In the beginning I wasn't doing that well; I only got one goal in the first half," Stripp said. "I think I was thinking about it too much in the beginning, but then I knew I just needed to let myself play how I always play and then when I scored that goal I knew it was my 200th and I was really excited.

"Lucy and I have played together for a really long time and have always had a great connection, I think it was just meant to be that she assisted me."

Stripp scored her first goal of the game with seven seconds remaining in the half to put the Mounties up 8-4.

MacWhinnie, who came into the game needing to save 11, got her milestone with minutes to go in the second half; she totaled 12 saves for the game, with her 200th save coming with 1:54 to go.

"I didn't know, I knew I was getting close, but I was kind of shocked," MacWhinnie said. "It was very exciting when I found out."

The last time the Mounties met with Wahconah they trailed by three goals at half-time and had a slow start. Friday afternoon the Mounties got off to a quick start and led by four at half.

Wahconah came out in the second and Lauren Melle put one in at the 18-minute mark to put the hosts down only three, but back-to-back goals from Stripp extended Greylock's lead to five.

"Every time we play Wahconah it's a good game, they're a very challenging team and have some very skilled players," Mount Greylock coach Lindsey von Holtz said. "Knowing Sam and Sarah were close helped us keep the moral and have the energy to keep running."

Wahconah put in two more before the end of regulation, but the Mounties added three on their end to seal the win and advancing their record to 15-2.

For Mount Greylock, Barrett totaled four goals and two assists, Maggie Rorke had two goals, Emma Pulumbo had two goals, Julia Whitney and Caroline Flynn each had one, and Kelsey Orpin and Lauren Howard had two assists.

For Wahconah, Melle finished with two goals, Emmy Cote had three goals and two assists, and Perin Genway had one goal and two assists, McKenna Mcllquham had one goal, and Brittany Quihn had one assist.

Mount Greylock travels to Westfield Saturday morning for a noon start. Wahconah will play Mount Greylock again Monday at 4:15 p.m.
