MG Bats go Silent in Loss to Turners Falls

TURNERS FALLS, Mass. -- In a game where the pitchers were having their way, one bad inning was one too many for the Mount Greylock softball team. Turners Falls starter Emily Mailloux outdid Mounties sophomore Alexis Bushika from the circle, striking out 11 Greylock batters on her way to leading the Indians to a 3-0 win.

"We couldn't get things rolling offensively in this one," said Mounties head coach June Blake, whose squad was held to just four hits in the loss.

Bushika got one of the four hits and pitched well from the mound, holding Turners Falls scoreless for six out of the seven innings she pitched. Her one blemish was a three-run fourth inning in which the Indians took full control of the game. Other than that, Bushika allowed two earned runs on six hits, striking out two batters and walking five.

Junior Michaela DiNicola and freshman Kendal Frye also had hits for Greylock, which next hosts Wahconah at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
