PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Patrick McLaughlin scored 19 points on Tuesday to lead the Wahconah boys basketball team to a 47-41 win over Taconic.
Wahconah did most of its damage from behind the 3-point arc, collecting eight triples – four from McLaughlin.
Sam McLaughlin and Evan Alfonso each scored 10 points. Alfonso scored five of his in the fourth quarter, when Wahconah went 5-for-8 at the foul line to hold off the Thunder.
Defense was key for Wahconah, which held Taconic to its season low against a Massachusetts opponent. The Thunder previously scored 41 in a season-opening loss against East Longmeadow and 30 at Colonie, N.Y.
Kyle McGrath led Taconic on Tuesday with 11 points. Ceasar Santos scored 10.
Taconic (11-5) hosts Amherst-Pelham on Friday.
Wahconah (8-7) is home on Friday against Hoosac Valley.
