ORANGE, Mass. – Nevaeh Scribner scored 21 points Thursday to lead the Mahar girls basketball team to a 49-45 overtime win over Lee in the Division 5 State Tournament.

Scribner scored five points in overtime, when the Senators outscored the Wildcats, 11-7, while shooting five-for-six as a team at the foul line.

Lee rallied from a six-point deficit going into the fourth quarter to force overtime. Kenzie Garrity (10 points) hit her second 3-pointer of the quarter with 12 seconds left to tie it and force OT.

Gianna Carlino scored 14 points to lead Lee. Mika Diller and Payton Simmons added nine and six, respectively.

“It was a very hard fought game and well played by both teams,” Lee coach Rick Puleri said.

It was also the second straight game for Lee (11-10) against the Senators, who beat Lee, 46-36, in the teams’ regular season finale.

Sixteenth-seeded Mahar (10-11) moves on to face top-seeded Hoosac Valley in the tournament’s Round of 16.
