NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – A one-out error in the top of the eighth opened the door to a three-run rally for Pioneer Valley, which went on to a 5-4 win over Drury at Joe Wolfe Field on Saturday.

The Panthers scored a run in the top of the seventh to force extra innings.

After they took the lead, Drury mounted a two-out rally in the bottom of the eighth but fell just short.

J.J. Prenbuger got things started with a leadoff walk but stayed on first as Pioneer Valley retired the next two hitters.

But then Jake McAllister and Brayden Canales reached base on back-to-back errors, the second allowing Prenguber to score from second and sending McAllister to third.

Noah Arnold singled to left field to drive in McAllister and make it 5-4.

But the Panthers’ Ethan Quinn got the next hitter to strike out to end the game.

Quinn earned the win with two innings on the mound in relief of starter Jackson Glazier, who struck out eight, walked five and allowed two runs.

Drury starter Carson Rylander was not around for the decision either. He went seven innings, striking out seven, before giving the ball to Prenguber. Prenguber was tagged with the loss despite not allowing an earned run.

Brayden Durant led Drury’s offense, going 2-for-4.

The Blue Devils (14-3) finish the regular season on Sunday afternoon at Lee.
