WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Cam Miller went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and threw an inning of no-hit relief Thursday as the Mount Greylock baseball team beat Amherst, 9-2.

Jesse Thompson went four innings, allowing one earned run, to earn the win on the mound.

“Jessie in his first varsity start on the bump pitched great,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “He was able to fill the zone and had his change up going well to keep them off balance.  I was excited for him and glad to see that he looked comfortable out there.”

Thompson’s offense gave him a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first, and the Mounties led, 6-1, after five innings.

The Mounties worked eight walks and took advantage of eight Hurricanes’ errors to build their lead.

Eli Kristensen and Malcolm Leyda rounded out the game on the mound for Mount Greylock (4-3) goes to Monument Mountain on Friday.
