CHICOPEE, Mass. – Jack Abel went 2-for-3 with a triple Friday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to an 18-2 win over Chicopee Comp.

 

Five different Generals doubled in a 16-hit attack: Cam Zerbato, Morrie Fried, Matt Egan, Jack Reed and Jason Codey.

 

Matt Burega got the win on the mound, striking out seven and allowing one earned run in four innings of work.

 

“Great outing for Matthew Burega, four no-hit innings, and our offense hit the ball hard all day,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said.

 

Cam Hillard threw a scoreless fifth inning in the five-inning win.

 

Pittsfield (2-0) hosts Chicopee on Tuesday.
