WESTFIELD, Mass. – Paul Lawry went 2-for-2 with a double Monday to lead the Westfield baseball team to a 7-3, season-opening win over Taconic.

 

Jackson LaValley struck out seven and allowed no earned runs in a complete-game effort on the mound for the Bombers.

 

Chase Wendling and Evan Roccabruna split time on the hill for Taconic, combining to strike out four and allow three earned runs.

 

Eddie Ferris and Wendling each had a pair of hits for the Thunder. Gavin Maffuccio drove in a pair of runs.

 

Taconic (0-1) hosts Springfield Central on Wednesday.
