SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Mount Everett’s Jacob Kreis recorded a strikeout with the tying run on second in the top of the seventh on Wednesday to secure a 6-5 win over Athol.

The Bears scored two in the fifth and two more in the seventh to erase most of a 6-1 deficit, but Kreis was able to close the door as the Eagles snapped a two-game skid and improved to 4-2 this spring.

“After losing to Pittsfield and Monument it is nice to get a win,” Mount Everett coach Dan Lanoue said. “Even if it's an ugly one. We didn't get too much offense today. When we were able to get guys on, we put together some good at bats to drive them in.

Kreis also led the offense for Mount Everett with a three-run double in the third, one of three hits for the home team.

JJ Schneider and Levi Boardman had the other two hits.

Brodie Kinna started on the mound and went four innings, striking out nine and allowing one run. Sean Warren pitched the fifth and sixth, striking out three, before Kreis took over in the seventh.

Mount Everett is home on Friday afternoon to face Springfield International Charter School.
