Mark was maybe the best athlete to ever come out of the Berkshires. He was and All Star shortstop with the Baltimore Orioles and one of the best defensive shortstops of all time. He won the Golden Glove 8 times. Early in his career he used to work at Besse-Clark store on North Street. After playing he worked with the major league baseball players union.Unfortunately he was a heavy smoker and died at the early age of 54.
He was also a top basketball player at Pittsfield High. (kh)
