Silvio O. Conte Comments...
Was a Republican representative in the United States House of Representatives for 16 terms from 1959 until his death in 1991. He represented Western Massachusetts and was known for taking care of his district. He graduated from Pittsfield Vocational School in 1940 and served in the Navy in World War II. After the war he used the GI Bill to attended Boston College and Boston College Law School where he earned his law degree. He helped my father get an operation to restore a hearing loss which occurred due to firing guns on a WWII ship. The VA had been trying to put my father off. Conte stood up for his people. kh
