Route 7, Williamstown, near Mount Greylock Regional High School, looking east across the Green River valley to the outbuildings of Mount Hope Farm

The house in the lower left corner of the photograph is 2189 Green River Road, Williamstown, MA. This photo must have been taken prior to 1980. We purchased the house in 1980 and demolished the two enclosed porches and the brick chimney visible at the rear of the house soon thereafter. The barn was demolished in 1986 and replaced with the current building, which is now famous in and of itself. The lilac hedge is much more lush now, and the trees extending horizontally across the photo have grown larger and filled in with secondary growth and shrubs. This is a popular view to photograph. The New York Times travel section featured it on the front cover some years back in an article about Williamstown.
