NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The McCann Tech football team fell to Carver, 55-0 in their last tune up before Tri-County League play, Saturday afternoon.

It was always going to be a tough matchup for McCann (0-3) coming into this one going up against a bigger and faster Carver team. McCann knew it was going to be a battle in the air with Carver known for airing it out and was up to the task on the first play of the game.

Tyler Little deflected a pass that would have gone for six with some nice defensive positioning. Unfortunately, the very next play Carver went right back to the well and got a 42-yard score through the air to get the scoring going.

McCann looked to answer back but had a quick three-and-out that resulted in a punt return for Carver to make it 14-0 early in the first quarter. Carver had six throwing touchdowns in the game and four of them in the first half of play. McCann struggled to get anything going on the offensive side of the ball, but continued to fight for every yard they could. Carver eventually took a 41-0 lead into the break giving McCann a chance to regroup.

“The sportsmanship of Carver gained a few more fans out here,” McCann Tech coach John LeClair said. “Our kids got to see what football east of 495 is all about, The skill and athleticism from Carver was impressive.”

McCann never gave up and played a good second half of football holding Carver to only two scores. McCann was able to move the ball a little bit better on including a couple good catches for first downs. After a couple tough early matchups to the season for McCann they will look to go into league play against Smith Voc tested and ready to show what they are capable of doing.

“I’m going to take every point that was scored as a teaching point, this game was about the whole week, let's learn and not worry about the score just take it as a learning experience and get ready for league play,” LeClair added.

McCann will host Smith Vocational under the lights on Friday with a chance to wipe the slate clean and get things moving in the right direction.
