NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A goal by Mitchell Begin just 27 seconds before halftime gave the Pioneer Valley Christian boys' soccer team the lead before a scoreless second half by keeper Landon Conroy sealed the Eagles' 3-1 road win over McCann Tech on Tuesday.
Begin's goal ended up being the game winner for Pioneer, which also got an insurance tally from Joseph Mozdzanowski with just under six minutes left on the clock. It was the second goal of the game for Mozdzanowski, who put the Eagles up 1-0 with an unassisted strike 10 minutes in. Senior Chad Raimer tied the game up for the Hornets (4-3) in the 34th minute, but Begin answered before halftime to snap McCann's two game win streak.
Conroy finished the game with 16 saves, while senior P.J. Laliberte stopped five shots in goal for the Hornets. McCann returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Franklin Tech at 4 p.m.
