Pittsfield girls soccer upsets top-seeded East Longmeadow in Division I semifinals

The Pittsfield High School girls soccer team (13-1-3) is headed to the Division I Western Mass. finals for the first time ever.

The No. 5 Generals upset top-seeded East Longmeadow (16-2-1) 2-1 Saturday night in double overtime in the semifinals at Westfield State University.

Lindsay Neuberger hit the game-winning shot with just 50 seconds left in the second overtime. 

Before the overtime goal all the scoring happened in the first half.   Danielle White scored for East Longmeadow to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.  Two minutes later Aleah Sangiovanni found the back of the net for Pittsfield on a long direct kick from Meghan Driscoll.

The Generals will take on No. 3 Minnechaug (11-5-4) in the Division I Western Mass. final Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Westfield State University.
