SOUTHWICK, Mass. -- Solia Herndon-Schmid scored a pair of goals Sunday to lead the Lenox girls soccer team to a 3-0 win over Southwick.

Herndon-Schmid scored the game-winner with an assist from Mary Elliot midway through the first half.

After taking a 1-0 lead into half-time, the Millionaires got goals from Herndon-Schmid and Elliot in the second half to put the match away.

Ella Hall made four saves to earn the shutout win in goal.

“With the [Southwick] boys team playing prior the whole town was ou,t and Southwick came out hard and aggressive,” Lenox coach Brian Seminara said. “It was definitely back and forth in the first 15 mins. The Southwick fans were so loud I think it took the girls back a bit, as it had all the makings of a tournament game, which half the team has never been exposed to.

“The end of the first half and beginning of second, we were still getting some chances, but Southwick was looking dangerous on counter attacks too. With 20 minutes left in the game, Lenox got a free kick about 30 yards out, and was able to capitalize, sending the score to 2-0. Ten minutes later we got the third goal.”

Lenox (10-3-1) goes to Chicopee on Tuesday.
