LENOX, Mass. – After coming close the last two games, the Pittsfield girls soccer team Wednesday earned its first point of the season with a 2-2 tie against Lenox.

Bre’Jai Ellerbee scored with an assist from Kyana Summers, and Abby Malumphy converted a penalty kick for the Generals (0-14-1).

“We came out really strong and scored a couple quick goals which was important for our confidence,” PHS coach Hal Asher said. “We bounced back after conceding two goals to create a lot of chances in the second half and were unlucky. Kyana Summers was doing an amazing job keeping the team hyped up the entire game. I appreciate how hard everyone worked to make good things happen for the program.

“We are a team that continues to grow and support each other on and off the field. Our team values are strong and we know we are building a great program with dedicated student athletes.”

Maddi DiGrigoli and Lauren Bridges each scored a goal for Lenox to level the score.

“Lenox was able to dig deep and bounce back, with a PK of its own and a goal by Lauren to even it out 2-2,” Millionaires coach Brian Seminara said. “As the game rolled into the second half both teams had their chances but neither were able to come out as the victor.

“Both our teams played hard, and we're definitely a little banged up with injuries. It was great to see some of the young girls for Lenox work hard in some big minutes.”

Ella Hall made five saves for Lenox. Shay Kozlowski stopped five shots for the Generals.

Pittsfield is finishing the season strong. After scoring just one goal in its first 12 games, it has scored three times in its last three outings. It dropped games by scores of 2-1 and 1-0 in its two games leading up to Wednesday.

The Generals face a strong test next time out, traveling to Mount Greylock on Friday evening.

Lenox (7-5-2) will look to rebound on Friday when it travels to face Easthampton.
