CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Kayla Kowalczyk made eight saves to earn the shutout as the Wahconah girls soccer team defeated
Hoosac Valley, 3-0, on Wednesday.
Wahconah (3-1) went on top midway through the first when an own goal went against the Hurricanes (1-2).
Perin Genaway scored unassisted 11 minutes later to make it a 2-0 game.
In the second half, Jocelyn Hill set up Arden McKnight to provide the final margin.
"Wahconah played well," Hoosac coach Kathy Budaj said. "We were slow to the ball today, and that hurt us.
"We did some very nice things, but we have some important things to work on."
Kailynne Frederick had 15 saves in the Hoosac goal.
The Hurricanes host Southwick-Tolland on Saturday.
Wahconah hosts Monument Mountain on Friday.
