WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Jameson Bayliss Friday threw 5 and a third innings of hitless relief to pitch the Mount Greylock baseball team to an 8-3 win over Lenox.

Bayliss struck out six and walked none to shut down the MIllionaires after they tied the game, 3-3, in the top of the second inning.

“Happy for our guys, to finally get that win after a seven-game skid,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “We still have to clean up our defensive mistakes. We can’t afford to have five-plus errors.

Bayliss needed just one pitch to end the top of the second thanks to catcher Tommy Art, who threw out a runner attempting to steal second base.

Bayliss then retired the side in order in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. In the top of the seventh, Lenox’s Robert Bazinet reached on a two-out error, but Bayliss got the next hitter to fly out to Everett Bayliss in center field.

Mount Greylock’s offense was led by Cole Wetherell, who went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Jake Newberry drove in a pair of runs, and Art and Emery Rotter each doubled.

Lenox’s only hit came from Max Shepardson. Bazinet drove in a run with a ground ball in the first inning.

The Millionaires (5-6) host Athol on Saturday.

Mount Greylock (4-7) hosts Monument Mountain on Sunday, the first of five games in six days for the Mounties.
