Greylock Loses Pitchers' Duel to St. Joe's

Staff reports

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- There was plenty of solid pitching to go around on Wednesday, but in the end, it was the St. Joe's baseball team that got the final say in a 3-1 home win over Mount Greylock.

Mounties starter Tommy Nowlan was in complete control through the first five innings, holding the Crusaders scoreless while nursing a 1-0 lead. St. Joe's finally got to Nowlan in the bottom of the sixth frame, however, scoring all three of their runs in their final at bats.

"It was tough pitchers' duel between Tommy Nowlan and two different St. Joe's pitchers," Greylock head coach Steve Messina said. "It was a well-played game on both sides. Tommy was in control of the game until the sixth inning."

Nowlan allowed just five hits on the day while striking out five batters and walking just one. The Mounties (2-4) managed just four hits against the Crusaders' pitching, with junior Billy Pulasky leading the way with a 2 for 3 day.

Greylock next plays at Lee on Saturday at 1 p.m.
