WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team Wednesday night overcame the injury bug and the Burr & Burton Bulldogs for a 24-11 win on John T. Allen Field.
“A lot of new defenders stepped up today after a few games in their new position after the three starting defenders became injured two weeks ago,” Mounties coach Lindsay von Holtz said. “Kristen Aliberti led the defense with three caused turnovers and multiple ground balls. Autumn [Delorey] had a great game in net with 10 saves.”
Sarah Stripp scored eight goals, and Emma Polumbo added six on a night when seven different Mounties had at least a goal apiece.
“Caroline Flynn came back from her injury strong with four goals and multiple caused turnovers,” von Holtz said. “Emma [Polumbo] won 14 draws in the midfield which allowed Mount Greylock to settle down and set up the attack. Sarah Stripp and Caroline Flynn combined for another five draw controls themselves. The three players led the team from the midfield.”
Clare Sheedy had a hat trick in the win.
Mount Greylock (5-1) hosts another Vermont squad, Mount Anthony Union, on Saturday evening.
