PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield softball team Monday earned its third straight win via the mercy rule, knocking off Longmeadow, 17-2.

The Generals extended their winning streak to four games and improved to 6-2 overall.

The Generals did damage early, putting an eight spot on the scoreboard in the first inning.

Ella Bassi and Natalie Arnold powered the offense with five RBIs apiece.

They also accounted for five of the Generals’ 18 hits..

Defensively, the Generals and Lancers could not find a groove with a combined five errors.

The Lancers allowed six stolen bases on top of eight pitches to the backstop.

Amanda Pou and Mia DeJesus split time in the circle for Pittsfield, combining to allow three hits.

One of those hits was a Delany Schrager solo home run in the third inning to make it a 10-2 game at the time.

“We come out here the same way every game,” Pittsfield coach Brian MacDonald said. “There’s always going to be competition, so overall I'm really happy with how the girls played. The pitchers did a great job and shut their team down.”

“We really came out swinging against their first pitcher, and we did the same thing to their other pitcher as well.”

This win leads the Generals (6-2) into their next game at Monson on Wednesday.
