Drury gets its first win of the season, and Hoosac its first loss.
Kali Puppolo pitched a strong game to start the Hurricanes off to a 2-0 lead and in the bottom of the third, she unfortunately got injured on an attempt to steal third base. Later found out that she broke her ankle and it ended the senior's high school season. After a pitching change, the Blue devils were energized and came back to win the game taking a 3-2 lead by the top of the 5th.
Maya Howland pitched for Drury and took command of the Hoosac lineup, keeping thier hitters to only 3 hits, 2 runs, none of them earned.
Bottom of 2nd= Hoosac Gabby Vincent got on base by a Drury error, and moved around the bases, and scored on a hit from Syra Bradley. Syra then scored on a another Drury error after Riley Bishop put the ball in play.
Bottom of 3rd - Kali Puppolo got on base hitting a fielders choice after Logan Stansfield hit a single past the Drury Shortstop. Kali stole second, and then tried to steal third when Drury catcher Anna Dix threw to Drury third baseman McKenna Pevey to get the second out of the inning. Unfortunately Kali's slide into third is what caused the injury.
After Logan Stansfield took the mound for the Hurricanes the Blue Devils started hitting the ball. In the top of the 4th - Maya Howland got on base after a Hoosac error, and moved around the bases on a wild pitch. She then scored on another wild pitch to the next batter.
Top of 5th- Drurys Jackie Moulton got on base with a hit by pitch, and scored after Abby Lear laid a nice bunt down the first base line and the cathcher made a throwing error. McKenna Pevey then drove in Abby Lear with a single to the middle.
Top of 6th - Anna Dix got on base with a single fly to the middle and moved to second on a throwing error from the shortstop. She moved to third on a wild pitch and Caitlyn Tatro put the ball in play, causing another Hoosac error, and Dix Scored.
Top of 7th: McKenna Pevey got on base with a fielders choice , moved over to second on a fielders choice, stole third and scored on a fly ball error hit to the outfield by Maya Howland.
